I joined Ciseco and IOT research as CEO in June 2012.

Before that I was in the CTO Office at Citrix Systems, from where I retired to go work with small start-ups in June 2011.

    Hi Rob,
Hope I am in the correct area for this question. I am working with the Raspberry Pi unit and making good progress for the moment. I have had no success with connecting to the Arduino Uno unit. I followed the online instructions at ADAFruit concerning driver installation. I am using a Vista computer and when I try the installation fails per the instructions; however, when I go into the Device Drivers on my computer nothing appears under Ports(COM & LPT). Instead I get an entry for Other Devices, Unknown device. I have successfully made connections to other USB devices using the FTDI driver for Windows and this is currently installed on my computer. I have a Rev R3 Uno board and this unit has an Atmel USB IC instead of a FTDI part. How can I resolve this issue and make connection to the the UNO board?
    Thank you for your assistance,

Since this is an Arduino/Windows issue, I would suggest you take a look at http://arduino.cc/en/Guide/windows
The unknown device you see is likely the one that needs the driver, which should be in the Arduino IDE package that you installed.
